THE STORY

This photo is inspired by 1 & 2 Corinthians. For context, Paul writes this letter to the church in Corinth. Located in Greece, the city was generally known for its pleasure-seeking and excess, as a centre of Greek culture, wealth, sex, and pursuit of wisdom - mirroring many modern-day cultural dynamics in Western society.

Being a young church comprised of primarily Greek and Gentile believers, there were issues of division, sexual immorality and spiritual gifts. He writes particularly on the things they should/shouldn’t do, and what it means to be a Christian in Corinth and living out their faith with maturity.

Overall, the sinking of flowers into water represents drowning in excess (of wealth and other cultural practices). Also like baptism, being submerged symbolizes death to the old self and new life in Christ - being united with the church body. Christ died for our sins, so that we could live redemptively as a new creation, enabling us to truly love God and to love others as ourselves! ❤️
